With the help of the City of Fall River Office of Community Development, the dedication of the Fall River Young Marines, and the commitment of the Fall River Police Department, we were able to build and prepare the space for planting. Most importantly, this garden was made possible by the Flint neighborhood neighbors and local organizations who showed up with energy, ideas, and care, along with generous donations from friends and supporters near and far.
The Flint Community Gardens in Fall River are a community-driven initiative dedicated to transforming vacant space into vibrant, productive gardens where neighbors can grow food, share traditions, and build lasting connections. Rooted in the heart of the Flint community at Father Travassos and Cathy Assad Park, the gardens are more than just a place to plant—they are a space for learning, collaboration, and celebration of culture and heritage.
With the support of The City of Fall River, Love Your Block mini-grant, and members of our community, this initiative helps bring fresh, healthy food and environmental stewardship directly into the community.
We look forward to expanding to more communities.
